KL Rahul missed the opening match of IPL 2025 for the Delhi Capitals but is expected to be back for the second game against SunRisers Hyderabad on March 30. With a week between the two matches, he has enough time to get ready. He skipped the first game to welcome his baby girl with his wife, Athiya Shetty. In his absence, Ashutosh Sharma led DC to a tight win over Lucknow Super Giants.
Rahul joined the team after the match and looked in good spirits during a team-bonding event, where the players had fun imitating each other. He entertained everyone by mimicking Kevin Pietersen’s batting stance and accent, which got a big laugh from him.
DC celebrated the birth of Rahul and Athiya’s daughter with a sweet video featuring the team. In the clip, as teammates did a playful Mother’s Lap Baby Swing, skipper Axar Patel was heard singing the song Meri duniya tu hi re. Rahul joined Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore after Lucknow Super Giants chose not to keep him following issues with their owner. He’s looking to find his form in the shorter format after getting back into the ODI and Test team. He played a key role in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy victory, being reliable as a keeper and finishing strong with the bat, ending unbeaten in three out of four innings during the knockout stage.
