Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has attained the position of the top-ranked bowler in Test cricket. Bumrah showcased an outstanding performance in the recent Vizag Test against England, where he took six wickets in the first innings and added three more wickets in the second innings.
In this match, Bumrah bagged a total of nine wickets and claimed the No.1 position in the latest ICC Test rankings for bowlers, making history as the first-ever Indian fast bowler to achieve this feat.
Bumrah is the fourth Indian bowler after Bishan Singh Bedi, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin, to secure the top spot in Test cricket rankings.
A few hours after getting this milestone, Bumrah shared a story on his Instagram post which resembled a message -“The support vs The Congratulations”.
Bumrah played a crucial role in India’s victory in the second Test against England, which helped them level the series at 1-1. His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
At present, the reports are suggesting that India might opt to give Bumrah a rest for the upcoming third Test in Rajkot, scheduled to commence on February 15. The decision is aimed at preserving his freshness for the remaining two Tests of the five-match series, considering his workload of 33.1 overs in the Vizag Test.
