Watch: Jasprit Bumrah adds a new weapon in his armour ahead of the third test

Jasprit Bumrah turned out to be a spinner as he bowled a few leg-spin deliveries during his practice ahead of the third Test match against Australia that would begin on Saturday in Brisbane. In a video shared by the journalist Bharat Sundaresan on X (former Twitter), Bumrah was seen with two leg-spinners with a short run-up before going back to his full run-up and going full throttle against the batters. There were questions over the fitness of Bumrah as he seemed to be struggling a bit in the second Test match, but the fast bowler looked completely fit as he bowled quite well in practice against KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Most importantly, former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden advised Indian batters to bat “better and for time” during the coming third Brisbane Test against Australia.

After the dismal batting display with the pink ball at Adelaide, Team India would be itching for big runs and a win, which would also give them the lead in the series, against the Aussies at Brisbane.

After suffering an embarrassing defeat to the visitors way back by 295 runs at Australia’s Perth-Optus Stadium, where Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Yashasvi Jaiswal shared ticket contributions, the hosts made a stupendous comeback as top bowling spells from Pinks Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins red-ball magicians did their bit.

Dashed was the Indian cricket team, as it lost to Australia by 10 wickets in a Test, after a brave onslaught by the renowned red-ball magicians Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins combined with a counter-attacking ton produced by Travis Head. The victory turned out relatively easy when India had set a target worth 19 runs.

The team played like champions at Perth, declaring their second innings at 487/6, thanks to a stellar performance by KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Virat Kohli, but has largely looked listless towards the rest of its home Test season against Bangladesh and New Zealand, according to analysts studying the Indian batting.

In the current Test season against Bangladesh, India has only scored above 250 runs four times in seven Tests and 14 innings. Seven times they were all out under 200. They scored over 300 runs, twice with a highest score of 462-all out in the first Test against New Zealand and another time at Perth during the first Test of the border-gavaskar trophy.
