Washington Sundar talked about his important showing against England in the third Test at Lord’s on Sunday.
Sundar grabbed four wickets in the second innings, dismissing key players like Joe Root and Ben Stokes, leading to an exciting finish.
This showing really helps my confidence because doing well in England is a big deal. I had clear plans for this Test, and Gautam Gambhir helped me get them ready. Seeing those plans work out on the field is really great, Sundar said on ‘Match Centre Live’.
He used the rough spots well to bowl out all the batters. Some balls went straight after landing, while others spun sharply, confusing the English players.
India struggled to 58/4 by the end of the day. A draw seems unlikely, so the situation is clear: India needs 135 more runs to win, while England needs six wickets to take back the lead.
Sundar, who caused England to collapse to 192 in the second session, predicted India would win. He told Sky Sports, India will win tomorrow.
We want things to go our way, and we’ll take it. We’re going to be positive tomorrow. We have some good batsmen ready. Winning a Test at Lord’s would be amazing, and I think we’re in a good spot, he told reporters after the day’s play.
With 4/22 in 12.1 overs, Sundar is only the fifth Indian spinner to take four or more wickets in a Test at Lord’s.
He joins Bishan Singh Bedi, Bhagwath Chandrasekhar, Vinoo Mankad, and Srinivas Venkataraghavan as the fifth Indian spinner to get four or more wickets in a Test at Lord’s.
