Washington Sundar along with this Indian Star set to get a call up for the England series

The Indian men’s cricket team is expected to engage in white-ball cricket after finishing a five-match Test series with Australia. The winners of the T20 World’s 2024 plans will kick off their 2025 season with the first five-match T20I series at home against England and then will take to the 50-over stage with the Jos Buttler-led side in a three-match ODI series. While T20 matches are scheduled to be held in Kolkata, Chennai, Rajkot, Pune, and Mumbai, the ODIs will be hosted in Nagpur, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad on February 6, 9, and 12, respectively.

This week the BCCI selectors will hold a meeting, and they will select the India teams that will go play in the home series against England and the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy starting on February 19. As Cricbuzz reported on Friday, young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is all set to earn his maiden ODI call-up.

The 23-year-old left-handed batter from Mumbai so far has played 19 Tests and 23 T20Is for India since making his debut against the West Indies in July 2023. Jaiswal is also likely to be selected alongside all-rounder Washington Sundar, who participated in India’s last ODI series against Sri Lanka in August 2024 with all three matches playing.

It is true that all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has showcased his talent in three T20 Internationals and five Tests for India. However, the 21-year-old cricketer may not make the cut in the ODI squad. He is, however, likely to be a part of the T20I squad for the series against England beginning January 22.

Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah have participated in all five Tests against Australia, so they have no chance to be featured in the five T20Is against England.

Mohammed Shami, who last played for India in the final ODI against Australia during the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, seems to be the frontrunner to be selected for England ODIs and the Champions Trophy.

As reported by Cricbuzz, Shami has ‘either got the clearance from the sports science wing of the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru or is expected to get it.’ Shami, who was last seen in action for Bengal on Thursday during the Vijay Hazare Trophy pre-quarterfinal match, has 195 wickets to his name in 101 ODIs played so far
