Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has given his opinion on the team’s combination of men in blue for further matches. India has already won the first match against Australia in the ODI World Cup, beating the opponents by six wickets.
Sehwag has opined that the veteran Indian off-spinner R Ashwin can be given some rest before some big game.
Virender Sehwag expressed his opinion that the Indian team’s management is likely to rest Ravichandran Ashwin to keep him well-rested for the crucial matches. He suggested that Mohammed Shami might be the replacement choice for the senior spinner in the playing XI for the upcoming match.
While speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag said, “I think Ravichandran Ashwin will be rested. Mohammed Shami has been in wonderful form, and he even took a fifer against Australia. This is a different wicket, and the ground is also smaller. Also, there is the age factor with Ashwin. So, India will look to save him for the big matches.”
In the match against Australia in Chennai, Ravichandran Ashwin delivered an economical spell. He managed to give away only 34 runs in his complete allotment of 10 overs and got the important wicket of Cameron Green.
