Legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag has given his expert advice before the much-awaited ODI World Cup. He said that current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will lead the chart of the highest run scorer in the upcoming marquee event.
While speaking to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Sehwag said that the current Indian captain would score a lot of runs in the tournament and he will be a key player for the team. He said that Rohit will score the maximum runs among all batters and players like him come with a high energy during such ICC events.
Virender Sehwag said,”I think lots of openers because India has a good wicket, so openers will get more opportunities. I think if I want to pick one, I think Rohit Sharma. There are a couple of names, but I know I’m Indian and I should pick Indian, so Rohit Sharma.”
He further added,”I’ll pick Rohit Sharma, because when World Cups come, his energy level, his performance goes up. So I’m sure that this time he’s a captain also. So I’m sure that he will make a difference and he will get a lot of runs,” said Sehwag while speaking to ICC.
India will play its first match on October 8 against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium. However, the tournament starts with the mega clash of England and New Zealand on October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
