Virender Sehwag Criticized The Indian Team Management After Losing The Match Against South Africa

On Sunday, the Indian team lost a match against South Africa by 5 wickets in their third match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. After the win, South Africa’s team reached at the top of the points table with 5 points in Group 2 of Super-12, while India slipped to second place after the loss. India and Bangladesh have four points in common.

During the match, Indian veteran wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik got injured. He went to the pavilion in the 15th over. Now, it is unsure whether Karthik will play the next match against Bangladesh or not.

If he gets any severe injury, it will be a major concern for men in blue. In his absence, the backup wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant, will play the rest of the game. After the previous match, many former cricketers and experts applauded the South African team on their outstanding performance, however, they also slammed the Indian team management and skipper for some unwanted decision.

During a conversation, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag was asked about the plan of the Indian team for the upcoming game.Sehwag said that Pant should be selected in India’s playing XI for the rest of the games.

Sehwag said, “It should have happened from day one. Pant has played Test cricket there, played ODIs, and performed well. When has Dinesh Karthik played in Australia? This is not a Bangalore wicket. Even today, I am saying that instead of Hooda, I would have Pant in the team. He Pant has the experience of playing there. He has broken Australia’s pride at the Gabba.”

Karthik’s performance in the last three matches was not so good. He scored 7 runs in two matches, and he didn’t get to bat against the Netherlands. Sehwag further said, “I can only give an opinion here. Whoever will play the next game is the decision of the team management. It is their problem in the next match. If Karthik is fit, he will go with this combination. In my view, Rishabh Pant should have been there earlier too”.

India will play the next match against Bangladesh on 2nd November at Adelaide Oval. It will be interesting to see who will get the chance in playing XI, and Rohit Sharma & Co. will try their best to win the game with a big margin.
