Virat Kohli, still emotional after their victory in Ahmedabad, shared that there’s something special planned for the fans. They finally won the title after 18 long years, beating Punjab Kings by just six runs in the final. Right before the last ball, Kohli was overwhelmed and celebrated the moment with his teammates.
After the game, Kohli was joined by former players AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle to honor those who helped build the team over the years. He gave De Villiers a big hug before finding his wife, Anushka Sharma, in the crowd. In an interview with JioStar, he mentioned how excited he was to celebrate with the fans back in Bengaluru, especially after seeing videos of the city filled with fireworks.
“It’s going to be something special,” Kohli said, inviting De Villiers and Gayle to join the festivities with the fans. Chris Gayle pointed out that a victory parade would happen in Bengaluru on Wednesday, highlighting how the whole city shared in the joy of the win. Kohli expressed his pride in the loyal fans who have been there through thick and thin over the years.
He reflected on why he has remained with RCB since the league started in 2008, acknowledging the unwavering support from fans during tough seasons. “This win is for the fans as much as it is for us,” he noted. Despite facing criticism and jokes over the years, he believes those challenges only made their bond with fans stronger. “Tonight, I’ll sleep peacefully, not just a night of partying, but a quiet one,” he added.
Kohli led the scoring for RCB with 43 runs, while Krunal Pandya helped the bowling team defend their total. With this win, RCB joined the ranks of champions, marking a standout season for Kohli, who racked up 657 runs in 15 games.
