Virat Kohli Will Block The Place For This Youngster In T20 World Cup 2024, Says Former Mumbai Indians Legend

Former New Zealand left-arm bowler Mitchell McClenaghan believes that the captain of Rajasthan Royals Sanju Samson may not be selected to bat at number 3 for Team India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

While having a conversation with ESPNcricinfo, McClenaghan shared his opinion with Deep Dasgupta and Tom Moody. They talked about the Gujarat Titans’ exciting win over Rajasthan in the last ball of match number 24. This was also the first loss for Sanju Samson in this edition of the tournament.

The young gun, Sanju Samson is getting a lot of praise from the team management for the way he is running the franchise.

While the Rajasthan Royals’ batting lineup has appeared strong throughout this season, Samson has particularly excelled in making effective bowling changes.

McClenaghan also suggested the possibility of Samson serving as India’s backup wicket-keeper for the USA and West Indies tours. He believes Samson would make a strong backup option at the top order, praising him as one of the best Indian number 3 batsmen in IPL history.

“That being said, I wouldn’t exclude him as being your backup keeper and also your cover for your top three positions. I know Shubman Gill comes into the conversation as well but I think Sanju Samson is arguably one of the best local number threes of all time in the IPL, McClenaghan concluded”.
