Virat Kohli Returned Home From South Tour, Here Is The Reason

Just ahead of the commencement of the two-match Test series between India and South Africa, it has been reported that star Indian batter Virat Kohli has returned home in a family emergency.

Virat Kohli is not part of the current three-day intra-squad match taking place in Pretoria. He sought permission from the team management to leave and flew back to Mumbai three days ago, indicating his absence from the immediate cricketing commitments due to a family emergency.

According to the report of Cricbuzz, there is no clarity on the reason for Virat Kohli flying back home. However, the report also suggests that he will be back in South Africa by December 22.

Virat Kohli was given a rest during the white-ball leg of the South Africa tour, which included a three-match T20I series after three ODIs. The T20I series ended with a 1-1 draw, with the first match being abandoned due to rain.

India also clinched the three-match ODI series by 2-1 where the wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson hit a superb century and his first in the 50-over format.

Virat Kohli has not played any competitive cricket since India’s loss in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup against Australia. In the ODI World Cup, he set a record by scoring 765 runs from 11 matches, the highest by any batter in a single edition of the 50-over World Cup.
