According to former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin, Virat Kohli is somewhat more talented than Babar Azam in terms of cricket. The 59-year-old said that he now places Kohli ahead of the Pakistan skipper since Kohli is an accomplished player with impressive data to support his abilities.
Azharuddin did, however, add that he respects Babar Azam, 28, a great deal and that they have a great friendship.
Azharuddin said, “Kohli is an experienced campaigner. His stats are huge. I feel it is always difficult to compare two players, but these are two very different players. But if you see, Kohli is slightly better.”
He further said, “Babar is a very nice guy. I have always had good conversations with him. I am not sure about kinship since he is much younger to me, but there is respect. There is always respect,” the former cricketer said during a conversation with Cricket Pakistan, on the sidelines of the International League T20 in UAE.”
Azharuddin praised the 34-year-old, saying that Virat Kohli is so talented that he can still participate in all three game types. Additionally, he praised him and said that the top-order batsman is always eager to learn, eventually referring to him as a very talented cricketer.
He then concluded, “He was always keen to learn. He spoke to me after our game in the 2019 World Cup. I have always said he is keen to learn, and there’s no surprise that he is playing like this in all formats of the game. He is obviously a very talented player.”
Notably, after making his international debut in 2008, Virat Kohli has scored 24936 runs in various formats. He has scored 74 centuries in international cricket, which puts him in second place all-time. Babar Azam, on the other side, has 11864 career runs under his belt, including 28 centuries.
