Famous West Indies fast bowler Wesley Hall met top Indian batsman Virat Kohli and gave him his book ‘Answering to the Call’ before India’s important match in the T20 World Cup. India will play their first game in the Super 8 round against Afghanistan at Kensington Oval, Barbados, on Thursday. The day before the match, Hall, who was famous for his fast bowling, met Kohli, the current star, and gave him his book. They also talked a little, with Hall praising Kohli, calling him a “great player”, and wishing him a long career with India.
Released in November 2022, ‘Answering to the Call’ focuses on Hall’s successful cricket career and his path to becoming one of the best fast bowlers ever.
The book’s second part came out earlier this year, showing Hall’s experiences as a senator and a politician. Besides Kohli, the head coach Rahul Dravid and the team captain Rohit Sharma also got a copy of Hall’s book.
“Today, I gave three books. I gave one to the captain, Rohit Sharma, another to the coach, Rahul Dravid, and also to Virat Kohli. They are all excellent players. It’s nice to see them being recognized. Sometimes, even if you’re a good player, you might not get noticed. I believe they’ve done a great job for India,” Hall told ANI.
After not making it to the final in the last big event, India is eager to improve their chances of winning the championship.
India won the first competition in 2007 with MS Dhoni as the leader. People still remember when Dhoni gave the ball to Joginder Sharma to bowl the last over against their big rival, Pakistan.
Pakistan thought they could easily win the match since they needed just 13 runs in the last six balls, and Misbah-ul-Haq was batting. Joginder managed to stop them from scoring those runs and played a key role in India’s amazing victory.
In this current tournament, India has played perfectly in the group stage and aims to keep their winning streak going as the competition gets tougher.
