Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli shattered Sachin Tendulkar’s sensational record to place himself in a rare category during the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against arch-rival Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday. He became the fastest batter in the history of one-day internationals, scoring 14,000 runs in just 287 innings. Before him, that record had stood with Sachin: he reached the 14,000-run mark in 350 innings. In total, only Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara had accumulated more than 14,000 runs; however, he accomplished this in 378 innings.
Kohli was the first to achieve this feat with less than 300 innings on his side.
He needed 15 runs to complete the milestone and reached it with a fluent four off Haris Rauf.
He reached a historic feat in this match, registering his 51st ODI century in just 111 balls.
India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in a one-sided Champions Trophy match on Sunday to tighten their grip on their semifinals spot. Pakistan was rolled out for 241, with Saud Shakeel scoring 62 off 76 and captain Mohammad Rizwan a laborious 46 off 77.
Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (3/40) took 3 wickets and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (2/31) knocked-out Babar Azam (23) and Shakeel.
India reached the target in 42.3 overs, thanks to Virat Kohli who remained unbeaten on 100 off 111 balls and two sprightly innings from Shubman Gill (46 off 52) and Shreyas Iyer (56 off 67).

With two wins from their two games, India are almost through to the semifinals. Pakistan, on the other hand, are facing elimination after losing their first two group games.
