Vignesh Puthur gets ruled out of the IPL 2025 season, this young star replaces him in Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians announced on Thursday that they have roped in Raghu Sharma to take the spot of Vignesh Puthur for the remainder of IPL 2025. Unfortunately, Vignesh has been dealing with painful bone stress reactions to both shins and, therefore, cannot play for the rest of the season.

About Raghu now. He is a leg-spinner hailing from Punjab; somewhat of a leg break bowler that’s been around MI support staff for a while. But enough of that, he’s now jumped in with the main team. Raghu has a fair bit of experience, having played 11 first-class matches, nine List A matches, and three T20s, representing teams in Punjab and Pondicherry. He has taken in all five 5-wicket hauls and three 10-wicket hauls in first-class matches, which is really commendable.

He really showed off what he can do in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy for Punjab, where he clinched a reasonable 14 wickets in nine matches. So MI feels that it’s a great pick.

As for Vignesh, he did quite well with MI, having played five matches and picked up six wickets. His debut was special as he bagged three wickets against the Chennai Super Kings. He is recovering from his injury but very much in with the team, focusing on getting back with the help of the Mumbai Indians medical and strength and conditioning teams. It’s also nice to see that the team is supporting him through his recovery.
