VIDEO: Sachin Tendulkar Honors Rohit Sharma With a Special Commemorative Mumbai Indians Jersey Ahead Of His 200th IPL Match

In the eighth match of the IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad are facing each other at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. In this match, Rohit Sharma achieved a special milestone and became the third player in IPL history to play 200 matches.

The former Mumbai Indians captain joins the ranks of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni as the third player to achieve 200 IPL appearances for a single franchise.

In a video posted by Mumbai Indians, Sachin Tendulkar said, “A long time ago, I was having a discussion with Mrs. Nita Ambani, that we have to bring Rohit to Mumbai Indians.”

Rohit Sharma is set to make his 245th IPL appearance, trailing only MS Dhoni who has played 252 matches, making him the second-most capped player in IPL history. Rohit’s tenure with the Mumbai Indians spans 14 editions of the tournament, a unique achievement within the franchise. Since joining the team in 2011, Rohit has been absent from just six of the matches played by Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Rohit Sharma holds the record as the all-time leading run-scorer for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, surpassing 5000 runs. No other player has managed to accumulate more than 3500 runs for the franchise in the IPL. Rohit is also only the second Indian, following Sachin Tendulkar, to achieve a century for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Additionally, he boasts the second-highest individual score for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, scoring an unbeaten 109 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in 2012.

Rohit Sharma stands as the top run-getter for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and gathered over 5000 runs. No other player has crossed the 3500-run milestone for the franchise in the IPL. Rohit is also just the second Indian, after Sachin Tendulkar, to notch a century for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
