Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul praised former Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni before the IPL 2024 match between the two teams at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 19.
Dhoni is considered one of the most successful captains in both international cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL). He led Team India to victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy, making him the first and only captain to win three ICC titles so far.
In the IPL, MS Dhoni shares the record for most successful captain with former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, both having won five IPL titles. Dhoni also holds the record for the most wins as an IPL captain, with 133 victories out of 226 matches.
On Star Sports, KL Rahul expressed that MS Dhoni holds a special place in the hearts of all Indians because of his immense contribution to Indian cricket. Reflecting on his personal experiences with the former Indian captain, the LSG skipper mentioned that receiving his maiden caps for all formats from Dhoni will always be his all-time favorite memory.
“MS Dhoni is obviously a special person for the entire country. The special moment with him was when I received caps for Test, ODI and T20I from Dhoni and to receive from his hands will at the top in the special moments. Playing with him will always remain in my special memories.” Rahul said.
