Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis scored 124 runs in the IPL 2024 match on Tuesday against Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium. He revealed that MS Dhoni gave him advice on how to finish games. Stoinis said that Dhoni advised him to keep things simple during the important final overs of the match.
Stoinis had an outstanding game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). They were chasing a tough target of 211 runs for victory. The Australian player performed brilliantly, timing his innings just right. He scored the crucial 17 runs needed in the last over and helped LSG to win the fifth match of the season.
In a video shared by Lucknow Super Giants’ official social media account, Stoinis revealed that MS Dhoni’s advice during crucial moments was to stick to what works and not to experiment with new approaches.
The former all-rounder said,”MS Dhoni told this one thing to me. He said in big games, everyone thinks that I’ve got to do something extra. I’ve got to do something different. His mantra and how he speaks to himself is he stays there, he stands still and he says everyone else is going to change. I’m going to be the only one here that doesn’t change and that holds him ahead of everyone else.”
In this match Chennai Super Kings posted a total of 210 runs in alloted 20 overs. For CSK, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 108* runs along with Shivam Dube who got 66 runs.
