Dhoni has started getting ready for the megaevent with less than three months to the beginning of IPL 2023. The next season of the Premier League is likely to start either in the final week of March or the first week of April. Dhoni, who has played for CSK for 13 seasons, will once again serve as team captain. Since the 2023 season is probably going to be his last, he will want to guarantee that the Chennai Super Kings win a record-tying fifth IPL championship.
Despite playing every game in the last three IPL seasons, Dhoni has struggled at the plate. He scored totals of 200 in 14 games during the IPL 2020 season, 114 in 16 games during the IPL 2021 season, and 232 in 14 games during the IPL 2018 season.
When CSK defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL championship game, it was their last time taking home the trophy. Following a successful 2021 season, CSK struggled in 2022 and placed ninth. After the disappointing performance from last year, they would aim to improve. Deepak Chahar will play for CSK in the 2023 IPL after missing the previous season of the richest franchise cricket league in the world. This year, the CSK team will also include England all-rounder Ben Stokes in addition to Chahar.
The cricketer, who was born in New Zealand and is the captain of England’s Test squad, was signed during the IPL 2023 mini-auction that was held in Kochi last month for a record amount of Rs 16.25 crore.
