After declaring his retirement from all forms of cricket last year, South African cricket legend and former Royal Challengers Bangalore star middle-order batter AB de Villiers have re-joined the Bengaluru-based Indian Premier League team. The right-handed batter, who is 38 years old, arrived in Bengaluru on Thursday and announced his presence on Twitter.

In his playing career, AB de Villiers participated in 184 IPL games across 14 seasons, and the 2022 season marked the first time he sat out of the wealthiest franchise cricket league in the world. Even though AB de Villiers’ RCB team failed to capture any IPL championships, he is still very well-liked in the capital of the southern state. One of the top batters to play in the IPL is him.
De Villiers scored 5162 runs in 170 innings across 184 games, doing so at a strike rate of 151.68 and an average of 39.70. The South African, who has three centuries and 40 fifties to his credit, is ranked sixth all-time in terms of runs scored.
