14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi had an impressive season with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025. The team picked him up for Rs. 1.1 crore during the mega auction, and after Sanju Samson got injured, Vaibhav got his chance in the playing XI. He really made the most of it, delivering great performances consistently, including a century against Gujarat Titans that got everyone’s attention.
As the season wraps up for the Royals, Vaibhav’s childhood coach, Ashok Kumar, shared his thoughts on his future. He believes that if Vaibhav keeps working on his fielding and fitness, he could be in line for a spot on the senior Indian team in about two years. If he steps up his fitness and fielding, I’m sure the BCCI will give him a shot, considering that most of the T20I team is under 25, Ashok said in an interview.
He also mentioned how Vaibhav’s winning mentality has been clear from a young age, especially during his 35-ball century against the Titans. With guidance from Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathour, he’s improved a lot. The practice he did with the white ball has really paid off, and he’s getting better at understanding the game.
