The 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his brilliant 190 runs took the attention away from all the other players in the Bihar vs Arunachal Pradesh match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. Nevertheless, the left-hander will not be participating in the remainder of the VHT 2025-26.
What Is the Reason that Vaibhav Suryavanshi Will Be Missing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26?
Vaibhav Suryavanshi will not be taking part in the rest of the VHT 2025-26 as he has to go to the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award function in New Delhi. The talented boy from Bihar is being recognised for his lessons in sports
Droupadi Murmu, the President, did the giving of the awards, and Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister, had chats with the winners. The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) bestows awards on children between the ages of 5 to 18 who have done exceptionally well in their respective fields such as sports, arts, innovation, and courage.
As per Hindustan Times, Vaibhav’s childhood mentor, Manish Ojha, shared that the left-handed batsman had already taken off to the capital city for the award ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan early Friday (December 26) morning.
“Vaibhav will not be on the field during today’s (Bihar vs Manipur) match as he is in Delhi receiving his award from the Prime Minister. The event started at 7 AM and he had to report for it. He will get off for the whole VHT because of the U19 World Cup and he will be joining the Indian team for practice games,” he added.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Turns Attention to U19 World Cup 2026 Preparations Following a Record-Breaking Performance in VHT 2025-26
The astounding 190 runs made by Suryavanshi in 84 balls was an event highlighted by 16 fours and 15 sixes. Not only did he lead Bihar to a historic score of 574/6, but he also became the youngest centurion in List A cricket history.
Suryavanshi’s name is going to be associated with the national squad. However, Bihar will probably feel his absence in the remaining matches as he was one of the most promising and entertaining top-order batters. His signing by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for a remarkable INR 1.1 crore during the IPL 2025 auction turned the eyes at first. He then went on to score the second-fastest century and, also, the fastest by an Indian, in IPL history. Thereby, with an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.55, he scored 252 runs in seven innings.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued to ride this wave of success in the domestic front. Just recently, in the U19 Asia Cup of 2025, Vaibhav demonstrated his amazing ability to takeaway any bowling attack by scoring 171 off just 95 balls. This form has brought him among the first-choice players as India is getting ready for the ICC U19 World Cup 2026, which is going to be held in Zimbabwe starting January 15.
