The United States had an easy win against Canada in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The co-hosts won their opening Group A game by 7 wickets. The skipper of the USA Monank Patel is not worried about facing India and Pakistan in the upcoming matches.
Canada scored 194/5 in 20 overs and seemed to be in control when the USA lost two early wickets. However, Aaron Jones played an incredible innings, leading the USA to a convincing win.
Jones scored 94 not out off 40 balls, hitting 10 sixes and 4 fours. He formed a match-winning partnership with Andries Gous, who smashed 65 runs off 40 deliveries.
“We batted well. Canada was ahead of us when we lost two wickets in our chase but Jones was unbelievable. We always knew he was talented but he took it to another level in today’s game,” Monank said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Patel also warned the arch-rivals India and Pakistan and said, “We played fearless cricket and will continue to do so in the upcoming matches. Whether it is India or Pakistan, our brand of cricket will not change.”
Monak also praised fans and asked them to keep their support for the USA. “It was good to see the fans coming to the stadium to support us. I hope they return in large numbers in our other matches.”
