The third ODI between Bangladesh and India has been moved from Dhaka to Chittagong by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to avoid any potential disruptions that the Bangladesh National Party (BNP) rally scheduled for that day might bring about. Since thousands of people are anticipated on the day, the BCB management relocated the location to prevent any disturbance.
For the first time in seven years, the Men in Blue will visit Bangladesh to play a three-match ODI and a two-match Test series. The first two ODIs of the series will be held in Dhaka, and the third game will now be played in Chittagong, where the first Test will be held.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) operations chief Jalal Yunus said, “Chittagong was originally scheduled to host one Test. We felt there should be an ODI at the venue too.”
Jalal refused to respond when asked whether the demonstration was the cause of the last-minute adjustment or not. But according to reports, that’s the only justification for the choice.
In the series against Bangladesh, players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and captain Rohit Sharma will be making their comebacks. The team will be aiming to play well and, more importantly, develop a strong side for next year’s ODI World Cup after failing to win the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Interestingly, players like Rahul Tripathi, Yash Dayal, and Rajat Patidar have been called up for the ODI series. What remains to be seen is whether or not they will be given the chance.
