Twice ICC World Cup Winner Player Appointed As The Head Coach Of West-Indies Cricket Team Just Ahead World Cup 2023

The ODI World Cup 2023 to be played in India this year will start on 5 October, and the final match will be played on 19 November. Before this tournament, a team has taken a big decision. This team has announced the new head coach before the ODI World Cup 2023.

The West Indies Cricket Board recently announced the team to play the qualifier match of the ODI World Cup 2023. At the same time, now the West Indies Cricket Board has also announced the team’s new head coach. West Indies has appointed its former captain Daren Sammy as the head coach of ODIs and T20s. Apart from Darren Sammy, Andre Coley has been made the coach of the West Indies Test and A team. The head coach Darren Sammy has been made a veteran who has twice won the T20 World Cup title as captain.

Daren Sammy’s tenure will begin with the ODI series against UAE before the World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe. After becoming head coach, Darren Sammy said, “It will be a challenge but one that I am ready and excited for; I am really looking forward to this opportunity, especially with the players we have and the impact I can have in the dressing room. I believe I will bring the same approach as a player I had – passion, desire to succeed, and my undying love for West Indies cricket. Darren Sammy won the T20 World Cup title twice to the West Indies under his captaincy.”

The West Indies Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for the qualifier matches. Seven players in these are currently playing in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League.
