The first-ever Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026) mega-auction took place earlier today (November 27) in Delhi. Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma saga the affair after transforming into the most high-priced player for WPL 2026 when UP Warriorz threw away INR 3.2 crores on her. New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr was the hot buy in the category of overseas players with Mumbai Indians (MI) buying her for INR 3 crores.
On the contrary, some heavyweight names also did not find a buyer when the hammer went up. The six-time T20 World Cup-winning captain of Australia, Alyssa Healy, the best player of the 2025 World Cup winning Indian team, Uma Chetry, were the leading players who were not purchased. Let’s unveil the 5 Top Unsold Players at WPL 2026 Auction.
Alyssa Healy
The 35-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who was in the marquee players set, was the first name in the auction but unfortunately, no one bid for her. Her name later came up during the accelerated rounds too but no team raised their paddle.
Although she is a player of tremendous potential, Healy is currently enduring a lean form in the WBBL with 65 runs in four innings at an average of 16.25. Furthermore, she is injury-prone and had missed the previous WPL season after a recurring foot injury.
Priced at the top bracket of a base price of INR 50 lakhs, it can thus be presumed that Alyssa’s prolonged battle with injuries coupled with teams’ reluctance to commit early funds could have weighed negatively in her getting a contract.
Alana King
The spinner Alana King is another huge Australian player who has made it to the list of Top Unsold Players at WPL 2026 Auction. She is the best white-ball spinner and had a brilliant Women’s World Cup 2025 campaign through which she got Australia to semis by being the fifth-highest wicket-taker with 13 wickets from seven matches including a seven-wicket haul. King was anticipated to be a major attraction in the auction but, to everyone’s surprise, she was one of the biggest omissions.
Heather Knight.
The ex-captain of England is another great player who will not be part of WPL 2026 after she could not get any deal. Having played for RCB in the first season of the league, she missed the next one due to her international commitments. Unfortunately for her, this is the second consecutive time that she has not sold in the auction, after being unwelcome once again the last time. She had also injured her hamstring earlier this year and was out of action. With the age factor of 34 already, it is understood that the franchises want to see the future and hire young talents.
Amy Jones
The batter-wicketkeeper of the England cricket team is a very prolific top-order batter with more than 2.5k runs in ODIs and 1.5k runs in T20Is. She also has the playing experience of the franchise league, being a well-known player in the WBBL and women’s hundred. However, the England star has been extremely unlucky in the WPL and today was the third time at a WPL auction that she was passed over, with the last two occurrences being in 2023 and 2024.
Uma Chetry
Since the majority of the teams have already established a wicketkeeper and there are just a few extra spots available, Uma Chetry was another gloved player who would not be part of a bid. The UP Warriorz had set the 23-year-old free before and she had been with them for the last two seasons. Yastika Bhatia, who had been in India’s Women’s World Cup 2025 squad instead of Chetry, was however bought by the Gujarat Titans for INR 50 lakhs.
