Shubman Gill is one of the most talented guys evolving from team India at the present. Gill was one of India’s pioneers when they beat West Indies at their home. The repetition from his bat also came during the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe where Shubman managed to get his first century in the 50-overs format.
As this batter made his maiden century, he got an abundance of good wishes from former cricketers. The list also included the former star middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh who has always supported gill to do their best for Team India.
While congratulating him on Twitter, Yuvraj wrote, “Finally!!! Well played @ShubmanGill. You seriously deserved that ton! Congratulations on your first 100. Many more to come, this is just a start #indiavszim.”
After the match, during an interview session with his teammate Ishan Kishan, when asked about the tweet from Yuvraj Singh, Shubman came up with a very gentle reply. The young batter revealed that before coming to this Zimbabwe tour he had some chunk of words with Yuvraj Singh and also expressed the feeling of not getting a century despite getting a good start in almost every game.
BCCI uploaded a video where Shubman talked about Yuvraj Singh and said, “I just met him before coming to Zimbabwe and he just told me that you’re batting well and just go there and when you’re set, look to bat through. I was telling him ‘100 Nahi aa Raha (I’m not getting that hundred). And his reply was ‘Don’t worry, it’ll come.”
Let us tell you that Shubman got the score of 82 and an unbeaten 98 against the West Indies, but did not pass the 100 mark. But playing with a bit of aggression yet controlled against Zimbabwe in the 3rd match of the series Gill got his first century and for that, he was awarded man of the match. With Gill’s century, India won a close encounter by 13 runs.
