Tilak Verma all set to play County cricket, Check out

Young Mumbai Indians player Tilak Varma is about to get some important red-ball practice after signing on with Hampshire for the County Championship in England. He’ll be with Hampshire from June 18 to August 2, as reported. This will be Tilak’s first experience in county cricket, which is exciting since he’s seen as one of India’s up-and-coming players.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) confirmed his participation, saying, “We’re pleased to announce that N Thakur Tilak Varma has been approached by Hampshire to play in the County Championship. We wish him well during his time there.”

Tilak’s time at Hampshire will overlap with India’s Test tour of England, scheduled from June 20 to August 4. So far, he has played 18 First-Class matches, scoring 1,204 runs with an average of 50.16 and a top score of 121, along with five centuries and four fifties. His last red-ball game was in the 2024 Duleep Trophy.

He made his India debut in 2023 and has since played four ODIs and 25 T20Is. He’s become a key player in the T20I squad, with 749 runs at an average of 49.93, including two centuries. In the IPL 2025 season, he scored 343 runs in 16 matches, managing a couple of fifties in what was a quieter year for him with the Mumbai Indians.
