This Star player to bat at number 3 for India in the T 20 World Cup

As revealed by the head coach Amol Muzumdar on Thursday, October 3, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur will be batting at number three in the women’s T20 World Cup 2024. It is important to mention that India will commence their activities against New Zealand on Friday, October 4 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

Before the tournament, the Indian captain played a warm-up match against West Indies and scored one run for three balls and ten runs for thirteen balls against South Africa while attempting to bat in three. While answering a question regarding the number three batter in the tournament, Muzumdar simply asked the media to read the scorecard of the warm-up matches to know about the number three batter.

While addressing the press conference, the lockdown saathiya season 2 head coach said that they had finalized their number three in the training camp before the world cup in Bengaluru.

“Yes. Not only the practice matches, but we had made up our minds way back in India, in the camps that took place before we left for the World Cup. Well, that was a wonderful camp conducted in Bangalore, and it was there where we made up our minds. These pre-World Cup matches quite emphatically confirmed that for us, did they not? There is nothing puzzling about it, is there? Well, you can try to imagine, and if you can, look at some of the scorecards and you will see,” Muzumdar said in the press conference before the match.

Leading up to the t20 world cup, Yastika Bhatia was slotted at number three for India. However, ahead of the Bangladesh tour, an injury sustained by her forced the team management to think out of the box. Although the 23-year-old healed quickly enough to be included in the World Cup qualification tournament, at the age of thirty-six, Harmanpreet will fill in for her at number three for this mega event.

To continue, Muzumdar also extended the discussion by commenting on the effect of Women’s Premier League on women’s cricket in India.

“Some of the players that have come into the Indian squad here at the World Cup are the product of what WPL is. Of course, not undermining the first-class [domestic] cricketers back home. But WPL has given us a strong base to find players,” he added.

In the meantime, India will try to begin the campaign on a positive note against New Zealand as they stand a strong chance of advancing in the competition as it has Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Australia included in the group.
