This Player Step Down As Director Of Zimbabwe Cricket After The Team Failed….

One of the best players from Zimbabwe Cricket, Hamilton Masakadza, steps down as the director of cricket for Zimbabwe.

This decision came after the Zimbabwe cricket team failed to qualify for the marquee event, which is scheduled to be played in June in the USA and West Indies. Hamilton Masakadza was appointed as the director of cricket after his retirement in 2019.

Hamilton Masakadza resigned from his post three months after Zimbabwe head coach Dave Houghton resigned from his post.

Talking about his decision Hamilton Masakadza said, “This decision has come about after careful consideration of the successes and failures of our cricket and my responsibilities,” Masakadza said in his resignation letter. “As much as there has been a lot of progress in my tenure, the fact remains that we are the only full-member nation not participating at the next T20 World Cup after our shock loss to Uganda.
“This was indeed one of the lowest points of my career, and I take full responsibility as Director of Cricket.”

Under Hamilton Masakadza’s reign, Zimbabwe qualified for the super 12s of the T-20 World Cup 2022, which was played in Australia. Zimbabwe also played brilliant cricket in the World Cup 2023 qualifiers.
Hamilton Masakadza is now set to work in different directions for Zimbabwe cricket.

Speaking on the same occasion, the former skipper said, “This decision was a very difficult one to make, and I remain fully committed to Zimbabwe Cricket and would very much be interested in serving in a different capacity as the organization looks forward to hosting the Men’s Under-19 World Cup in 2026 and the Men’s 50-over World Cup in 2027.”
