The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will now play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 8 instead of the original date. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced this change on March 28, explaining it was due to a request from Kolkata Police and the Cricket Association of Bengal because they needed more police for the Ram Navami celebrations. The match will now start at 3:30 PM (IST) and will be part of a double-header that day, with the Punjab Kings taking on the Chennai Super Kings at 7:30 PM.
Even though there were talks about moving the match to Guwahati, it will still happen at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, thanks to the efforts from the Cricket Association of Bengal. They pushed to keep the game in its original location.
On top of the scheduling change, KKR is dealing with another issue involving their pitch curator, Sujan Mukherjee. There’s been some tension because Captain Ajinkya Rahane isn’t happy with the pitch setup and feels it doesn’t play to their strengths. “We wish the pitch would support spin bowlers more,” Rahane mentioned after a recent match, sharing his concerns about the pitch conditions.
