Dhoni holds the record for the joint most IPL wins alongside Rohit Sharma (5). As soon as the news of Dhoni leaving the CSK captaincy was revealed, Rohit Sharma took to social media to react to the same.
Rohit Sharma, who has been replaced by Hardik Pandya as the captain of the Mumbai Indians, posted a picture of him and Dhoni with a shake-hand emoji on Instagram.
Ms. Dhoni has now handed over the captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings to Ruturaj Gaikwad and taken to their official website to announce the same.
In the official statement from CSk, it says, “MS Dhoni has handed over Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the start of the TATA IPL 2024.
Ruturaj has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in the IPL during this period. The team looks forward to the upcoming season.”
There have been speculations of Dhoni’s retirement after the completion of this season of the IPL, so the franchise wanted a smooth transition in the presence of Dhoni.
