Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra is impressed with the performance of the New Zealand Cricket team in the ongoing ODI World Cup. In the last match against Bangladesh, played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, New Zealand single-handedly beat Bangladesh by eight wickets.
New Zealand opted to bowl first and restricted the Tigers to a score of 245/9. The team that made it to the 2019 World Cup final then comfortably pursued this target, securing their third consecutive victory and claiming the top position on the points table.
While talking about the Kiwis on his official Youtube Channel, Aakash Chopra said,”New Zealand have won three out of three games. New Zealand are galloping towards the semi-final, where they will reach their first. They have a wish like that. We will see if they reach before us.”
The former Indian praised all the batters of the New Zealand and said that they all are getting runs which is the biggest strength of them.
“Kane Williamson is back and he scored runs as soon as he came. Daryl Mitchell also scored runs and before that Devon Conway was also playing well. Rachin Ravindra did get out but it didn’t make any difference. New Zealand won an extremely one-sided match.”
Chopra feels that New Zealand will very simply make it to the World Cup Semi-finals.
“They wear black clothes but they are not the dark horse. They are actually serious contenders to reach the semi-finals and they will reach there as well. They are looking like a very good team. They will reach there easily.”
