Star Indian youngsters Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are likely to be excluded from the BCCI Central Contracts due to their non-participation in the Ranji Trophy. In the 2023 central contract list, Iyer held a spot in Grade B, earning an annual salary of INR 3 crore, while Ishan was placed in Grade C with an annual income of INR 1 crore.
Reports suggest that the BCCI has concluded the selection of new contracts for players, and it appears that Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan may be omitted from the list due to their decision to abstain from participating in domestic cricket.
Ishan Kishan has been absent from cricket since withdrawing from the South Africa tour citing mental fatigue. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer was excluded from the team after not performing well in the first two Tests against England.
According to a report by Times Of India, a source said, “Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has finalized the contracts for the 2023-24 season. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are likely to be excluded as they refused to play domestic cricket despite BCCI’s instructions.”
Ishan Kishan is currently undergoing training with Mumbai Indians’ captain, Hardik Pandya, in Baroda. He did not participate in the Ranji Trophy 2024 while Shreyas Iyer also opted out of Mumbai’s last league fixture against Assam and chose to skip the quarter-final against Baroda.
