One of the legends of the Saurashtra domestic team Sheldon Jackson has praised his state fellow players Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara for their wonderful contribution to cricket and the benchmark set by them for other budding players.
Jackson believes that it is very hard to be someone like Jadeja and Pujara as players like them come once in a generation. Over the years, Jadeja and Pujara have both put on some fantastic performances for Saurashtra, which has benefited them to be in the continuous loop of Team India.
Because of national commitments, Jadeja and Pujara are not always available for Saurashtra’s domestic cricket matches. Jackson believes that having these players in the dressing room makes the team more optimistic and enthusiastic.
While talking to a renowned sports platform, Sheldon Jackson said, “Whenever Cheteshwar and Ravindra have been available for Saurashtra, it has been a bonus for us because they are Saurashtra’s favorite sons. In my opinion, we won’t be able to produce such players anytime soon.”
The wicket-keeper batter has also opened up why Saurashtra is performing in such a miraculous way and they have managed to win the two Ranji Trophy seasons in the past three years.
Jackson explained, “The biggest plus point about Saurashtra is that the association backed the players all the way. They didn’t drop anyone after failing in a couple of games. If you want to perform to your potential then you need security and you need to have a champion team to win championships. They kept continuity within the team which helped all of us perform collectively. Niranjan Shah came to receive us at the airport and congratulated us on the Ranji win. These things matter so much that such a big person from the association is personally congratulating you.”
Sheldon Jackson did not get any buyer in IPL Auction of 2023 and reports claim that Delhi Capitals might pick this wicket-keeper in place of their injured captain Rishabh Pant.
