These 2 Indian Giants Are Ready For The Comeback From Asia Cup

Deepak Chahar and KL Rahul both have been unfortunate to face a cumbersome break from cricket due to injuries. Deepak Chahar, on one hand, is out of the field since February 2022 and missed IPL too. KL Rahul on the other hand was supposed to lead the Indian side in the home series against South Africa. But he was struck with a groin injury and then infected with COVID.

KL Rahul is prepared to make his T20I comeback for the next Asia Cup in 2022. Due to fitness difficulties, the opening batter hasn’t played in a competitive game of cricket since the IPL 2022. After eventually making a full recovery, he will travel to the UAE for the major competition.

According to a source from BCCI, “KL Rahul doesn’t need to prove anything. He is a class player. Whenever he plays T20, it is always as a specialist opener and that would continue. Surya and Rishabh are set to play as specialist middle-order batters going forward,”

Deepak Chahar, in addition to Rahul, is prepared for the comeback. In addition to playing in the UAE, the bowling all-rounder has already made his comeback in the ODI squad for the Zimbabwe tour. Chahar, a true wicket-taker with the new ball, hasn’t played since February 2022. He is now injury-free and will play in the 50-over contests once again. Chahar is a good candidate to join the team for the 2022 T20 World Cup thanks to his swing and hitting skills.

Harshal Patel is also up for the pacer position, although he hasn’t entirely recovered from his rib injury. Depending on his match fitness, he may be included. As for Chahar, he is able to rejoin the team as Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fallback option.

As the team is scheduled to play about a dozen games before its match against Pakistan at the MCG on October 23, the Indian squad for the Asia Cup will give a good indication of the team’s structure for the T20 World Cup.

The Asia Cup is scheduled to begin on 27 August. With India playing its first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on 28 August in Dubai. The Final will be played on 11 September.
