Gautam Gambhir, a future head coach of Team India, stated that leading the national cricket team is “the greatest honour.” After leading the Kolkata Knight Riders to victory in the 2024 Indian Premier League as their mentor, Gambhir has become the clear favorite to succeed Rahul Dravid as head coach following the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. Gambhir, the unsung hero of India’s last two World Cup victories, stated that the prayers of 140 crore Indians as a whole will help India win another major championship.
“I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and those across the globe as well,” said the 42-year-old at an event in Abu Dhabi
Former captain of India Sourav Ganguly supported Gambhir earlier this week, stating that “he is a good candidate” for the position of head coach. At the Medeor Hospital in Abu Dhabi, Gambhir was speaking to a group of students.
“I have not answered this question, although a lot of people have asked me,” Gambhir said in response to a query from a student regarding his coaching experience with the Indian cricket team and how it helped them win the World Cup. But I must respond to you right now.
“140 crore Indians will be instrumental in their country’s World Cup victory. India will win the World Cup if everyone starts praying for us and we start representing them on the field. Being courageous is the most crucial thing, according to Gambhir. The former opener visited the Medeor Hospital’s sports medicine department while on a personal trip to the United Arab Emirates.
Throughout his stay, he made connections with young cricket aficionados from various Abu Dhabi academies and told stories about his motivational journey and most recent successes.
Gambhir, who was a key member of the Indian team that won the 2007 World T20 and the 2011 ODI World Cup, was praised for his recent success with the KKR.
