On being reappointed as the skipper of the side Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam broke silence on his relationship with Shaheen Afridi after Afridi was sacked as the captain of the side and Babar was reappointed as the captain.
In his pre-match conference ahead of the five-match test series against Newzeland, Babar Azam said that there is no rift between him and Shaheen, “We just support each other in every situation.”.
Babar Azam said, “”We support each other in every situation. Our goal is to put Pakistan first and to put its name in lights. We don’t think of individual glory, and thankfully, those elements are not present in my team.”
However, there were reports of clashes between Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam when Shaheen was sacked as the 20th skipper of the side under the chairmanship of Mohsin Naqvi.
Pakistan played just one series under the captaincy of Shaheen Afridi, which was against the Black Caps, and they lost the series 4-1.
Further adding to the cause, Shaheen Afridi’s side in PSL finished bottom of the table with just one win and eight losses.
The pacer is part of Pakistan’s plans for the T20 World Cup and is going to form a formidable pair with Mohammad Amir with the new ball.
