Due to rain, the final match of the Indian Premier League 2023 between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings is being delayed. The match was supposed to start at 7:30 PM this evening, but due to rain, the toss hasn’t even taken place yet. In such a situation, fans are concerned whether the overs will be reduced due to rain. Also, if the match cannot be held today due to rain who will be awarded the trophy?
According to reports, if the toss takes place by 9:35 PM, no overs will be reduced in the match. However, if the match doesn’t start by 12:06 AM, it will be played tomorrow. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has kept a reserve day for the final match of the Indian Premier League 2023.
If the winner cannot be determined on the reserve day as well, Gujarat Titans will be declared the winners. This is because the Gujarat team was in the first position on the points table. However, it is hoped that the match will be completed today itself.
In the first qualifier, Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans by a margin of 15 runs at Chepauk to move ahead into the 10th final. In this match, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja performed brilliantly to take their team home.
On the other hand, after losing qualifier 1 in the hands of CSK, GT beat Mumbai Indians by 62 runs to enter the final. In this match, the young opener Shubman Gill scored a superb hundred(129).
