“There are many names….”Mohammad Shami names his favourite bowlers and it’s not Kapil Dev and Zaheer khan

Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan are among the names that will forever be remembered in India’s cricket history for their performances. Kapil, who was an all rounder in true sense, happens to be one of the legends of the country while Zaheer, a left-arm pacer also had his own share of greatness during his career. But now in 2024 Jasprit Bumrah has made a mark in modern day bowling as a great. Yet they are not the only ones who have dazzled with their bowling skills when it comes to team India. Another two cricketers are former spinners Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh as well as off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin whose names appear among other best bowlers for India.

However, when he was asked by an interviewer about his favorite bowler of all time among Indian pacers Mohammed Shami came up with two greats that are not from India.

As Mohammed Shami stated during his shooting session on Star Sports began: “There are many names but if asked for a name I like Waqar Younis and Dale Steyn more”.

Through various well-remembered performances, Shami has proven himself to be a match-winner in all three formats and always been the go-to man for the Indian national team during ODI World Cups.

He is acknowledged for his searing pace and killer yorkers, as well as for his ability to raise his game to another level when it is most needed, ever since his unforgettable debut back in 2013 against a team like South Africa at Eden Gardens where he took nine wickets.

The fast bowler has acquired huge popularity among fans after having been able to deliver match-winning performances during big ICC tournaments like World Cup 50 overs even though he was permanently combating with different types of injuries.

In all forms of cricket, he forms a deadly pairing with Bumrah on pace department.

According to him, Shami remains among some of the best fast bowlers in modern era having taken 448 international wickets from 188 matches including 229 Test wickets; 195 ODI wickets and 24 T20I wickets.
