Virat Kohli’s form is one of the topmost discussions among the cricket fraternity of world cricket. The veteran is struggling with the bat and he has no century to his name since November 2019.
After IPL 2022, Kohli rested through the different cricket series. He was not there for the home series against South Africa and after that, he missed the T20 series against Ireland as well. After this, the veteran made a comeback to the team from the England tour. On the English soil, he struggled for the runs as well. In England Kohli scored only 12 runs in T20I and got 33 runs in the ODI series.
Now the former Indian captain is all set to return to the team from the forthcoming Asia Cup. Everyone believes that the Asia Cup will be a golden chance for Kohli to prove himself for T20 World Cup 2022. Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan claims that Kohli’s form will be too much dependent on the Asia Cup and if the former Indian skipper manages to get a bit touch then he can turn the game for India on the Australian pitches, which is also the favorite venue of Virat Kohli.
While talking to a cricket show ‘Gameplan’ on star sports, Irfan Khan said,” As far as the mind is concerned, what Virat Kohli will be thinking, what kind of mindset he will be coming in with and playing the matches, I think yes, Asia Cup is very, very important but when I look forward to the World Cup, where the pitches will be very, very good in Australia, which he likes, he thrives on Australian pitches, he’s done really well. So the Indian team needs Virat Kohli in top form. He comes back from the Asia Cup in top form, I think it’s a win-win situation for Virat Kohli and the Indian team.”
Irfan Pathan also answers the case if Virat Kohli will fall in Asia Cup as well. The former all-rounder did not hesitate to say that currently India is having many young guns who are performing well and they might be there on the selector’s radar for the T20 World Cup.
Pathan feels that if any unexpected things happen, then selectors should look at the other options. Speaking on this matter, Pathan said, “The Indian team has so many options, they need to choose from the options,” Pathan said. “Because you need someone going into the World Cup in good form. You can not have form in the World Cup. You can’t find form in the World Cup.”
