The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) celebrated the Indian cricket team’s outstanding victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday, July 4. The BCCI held a big parade and a welcoming ceremony at Wankhede Stadium to recognize the team as the new T20 World champions.
A large crowd gathered at Marine Drive to see the celebration of Team India’s win. The Indian cricket players thanked the fans and enjoyed their World Cup win together before heading to the famous Wankhede Stadium for a special event.
Rohit Sharma started the event by thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inviting the team to his home in Delhi earlier that day. Rohit then talked about special moments from the World Cup, especially Hardik Pandya’s important last over that helped them win the game.
The captain of the Indian cricket team praised Hardik for his excellent bowling performance, which made the crowded Wankhede Stadium cheer his name repeatedly. Hardik thanked the fans for their support by bowing to them.
Rohit Sharma said, “This trophy belongs to the whole country. It was a privilege to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the team. We know how much he loves sports. When it comes to winning championships, Mumbai always delivers. I am very proud of this team. I feel very fortunate to be part of it. The journey for the players and the support staff began three to four years ago. It’s the result of our hard work over the past few years.”
“.Hardik bowled the final, important over for our team. We really appreciate his effort in that situation. It’s very stressful to bowl that last over, especially when you know how many runs you need to protect. He did a great job. Hardik stopped 16 runs in the last six balls, including a key wicket of the risky David Miller on the first ball at Kensington Oval. “
India won the match by seven runs, ending a 11-year wait for an ICC title and sparking celebrations across the country.
