“The Plan Can’t Change Overnight….”Babar Azam Rejected Advise Of PCB Cheif Ramiz Raja

Pakistan lost the third and last test match against England by 8 wickets of the three test match series. This is the first time in test cricket that Pakistan has been whitewashed in test series at home. Furthermore, Pakistan has lost four consecutive test matches, including one test match against Australia and three test matches against England.

When the second test match between England and Pakistan was going on, Pakistan cricket board chief Ramiz Raja had an interview with former English skipper Michael Atherton, in which Ramiz applauded the England team approach in the test match and advised Babar to pick T20 players in the test cricket.

“Like England, for example, I suggested to Babar that England plays the T20 format in a five-day version, so you better pick T20 players here. It’s a forced mindset in Pakistan, which I like. I want the future generation to think of it as a T20 format like England is playing,” Ramiz had explained.

On Tuesday, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam attended a media presentation in which he was asked about Ramiz’s advice on the test cricket team. On that note, Babar revealed that team management has a plan for every format of cricket, and the plan can’t change overnight; it takes time.

“The door is not shut for anyone. There is a set plan for everything, and we have it for every format. You can’t change things in a day or week. It takes time. For the mindset to change, it takes time. Then, if we start playing defensively, journalists will ask why we don’t play aggressively, and when we play aggressively, they ask why we don’t play the other way. There will always be questions, and you can’t please everyone. Ultimately what matters is results. If results don’t come, then questions will be raised no matter what we do,” said Babar Azam.

Now, the Pakistani team will host the New Zealand team for two test match series starting on 26th of December 2022.
