Ranchi is currently witnessing one of the greatest rivalries as Rohit Sharma and company are currently playing against England for the fourth time in the series.
However, this Ranchi test marks the beginning of a new journey for one of the most talented pace bowlers in the domestic circuit, Aakashdeep, who makes his international debut for India.
Aakashdeep had a phenomenal start to his international test career as the Bengal lad went on to pick up three wickets from Ben Ducket,Ollie Pope, and Zack Crawley in his debut innings till now.
However After the first day’s play got over, Aakashdeep shared his experience of his international debut. Deep revealed that it was Jasprit Bumrah who advised him to drag his length back, which helped him dismiss Ollie Pope and Crawley.
Aakashdeep said, “I wasn’t nervous; I had spoken with my coaches, so I wasn’t tense ahead of the game. I don’t know how it happened, but I used to take every game as my last game and try my best.
Bumrah Bhai advised me to drag the length back slightly (in international cricket), and that’s exactly what I did. I felt bad (on the no-ball), and I was just hoping that the team wouldn’t lose because of that. There was a bit of help early on, but the ball became soft and the wicket was slow as well. We just tried to be as tight as possible and bowl in the right areas.”
Aakashdeep has so far picked up three wickets for 70 runs, with England scoring 302/7 with Joe Root batting on (106) along with Ollie Robinson (31).
