The Chennai Super Kings Star All-Rounder Retires From The International Cricket, Leaves A Note For The Fans

South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius has retired from International Cricket with immediate effect. Stating the reason the all-rounder wants to focus more and more on the T20s across the globe.

Pretorius has represented South Africa in three tests, 27 ODIs, and 30 T20Is. He was part of the African squad in the 2019 Men’s ODI World Cup and 2021 T20I World Cup.

While playing 60 international matches for Africa, the batter has 1895 runs and 77 wickets across all formats. Pretorius made his international debut in 2016 against Ireland and since then he was part of the Africa’s all-major events.

In IPL 2022, Pretorius made his IPL debut playing for Chennai Super Kings. His last match in IPL was against Royal Challengers Bangalore which happened on 4th May 2022.

In his statement, Pretorius said: “A few days ago, I made one of the toughest decisions of my cricketing career. I have decided to retire from all forms of international cricket.

“Growing up, my only goal in life was to play for the Proteas. I didn’t know how it was going to happen, but God gave me the talent and a serious will to succeed. The rest was in his hands.

“I am shifting my focus to T20 and other shorter formats for the rest of my career.”

“All the players I have played with and against over the years you have had an impact on my career. It’s so difficult to highlight only one or two because there are so many players that had an impact, but I can mention a few I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with.”
