One of the finest captains in the history of the game, Ms. Dhoni, under whose leadership team India won all the ICC trophies, namely the World Cup in fifty overs and the Twenty20 format of the game and the ICC Champions Trophy, said that earning the respect of players and loyalty are the important components of leadership.
Dhoni said that loyalty plays an important role in earning the respect of the players, and unless players and support staff respect the skipper, it is difficult to get their loyalty.
Dhoni further stated that the responsibility for the captain or leader comes from action rather than words; he believes that the leader should always lead by example.
Dhoni even further stated that the first duty and step of leadership is to understand each and every player of the team regarding his strengths and weaknesses.
Dhoni said that once an individual understands that it’s easy for him to work and bring out the best in the player without telling him about his weaknesses,.
Dhoni said that the basic duty of a leader is to keep things quite simple to get the best out of the players as well as to attain good results for the team.
Dhoni will be leading his yellow army, who will be coming in this year’s IPL.
As the defending champion, Dhoni has already won five IPL titles and will be eyeing the sixth one.
