The Bold Claim: Chepauk No Longer a Fortress For MS Dhoni and Co

The 17th season of the IPL is all set to start on March 22 as the defending champions Chennai Super Kings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening encounter of the season.

CSK vs. RCB have a historical rivalry as it becomes an event when both teams take on one another, but CSK has always dominated this rivalry.

However, once the schedule of IPL 2024 was revealed and Chennai was chosen as the venue for the opening encounter of the tournament, CSK’s former player Abhinav Mukund made a bold statement, saying that “Chennai is no longer a fortress for Dhoni and company, and RCB can fancy their chances to win the opening encounter.”

Mukund further stated:. “CSK vs. RCB has been a great rivalry over the years. RCB have come very close to winning at Chepauk but couldn’t cross the line. A couple of these moments will be etched in fans’ hearts.”

Mukund said that Chepauk is no longer a fortress for CSK as they were defeated by Punjab Kings and KKR in the previous edition of the IPL.

The schedule for the first two weeks and 21 matches of the T20 carnival was announced, with the MS Dhoni-led CSK playing two matches at their home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Chennai’s next home fixture would be a repeat of last year’s final, with a clash against the Gujarat Titans on March 26.
