“Test matches will no longer…”R Ashwin makes a bold prediction on the future of test cricket in Pakistan

When it comes to cricket talk, R. Ashwin is very much outspoken, he analyzed the recent loss of Pakistan to Bangladesh in Rawalpindi Test match. This was because this was the first time that Bangladesh had ever beaten Pakistan in Test match. The Pakistan captain Shan Masood went ahead and declared 448 runs in the first innings even after losing only six wickets. Bangladesh posted higher totals on a flat wicket before the second innings saw a batting collapse by Pakistan. Ashwin expressed his disbelief.

“Teams do not bow out on such pitches. In first-class matches, stronger sides will bat first and really go for it,” said Ashwin through his YouTube channel

“I noticed it was a complete and tiresome break down on the last day, when I viewed the highlights of the match.” Ashwin confessed.

The Indian cricket player was astonished by the cheap dismissal of Pakistan batsmen in their second innings. Moreover, he did not spare a thought for the lower middle order of Pakistan either.

“Eventually Mohammad Rizwan was all the while making a fight when Naseem Shah played a shot and was out cheaply too. It confused me completely. There was nothing at play on that field,” pointed out Ashwin.

Rizwan was batsman who shined for Pakistan all through the game. He was not out on 171 runs when Pakistan declared their first innings, but batted hard to make 51 runs in the second innings under challenging conditions.

Prasanna Raman, a former South African analyst who works with Ashwin in his clips, without any hesitation attacked the Pakistan batting.

“Bangladesh lacks any mystery spinners or wrist spinners. They do not pose any threat at all. Thus if you can’t bat for four hours on such a pitch at home, it can simply mean one thing- there is need to implement Division 1 and Division 2 cricket. Or else Test matches will no longer survive in Pakistan,” notes Raman.

On August 30, Pakistan will face Bangladesh again in Rawalpindi for the second Test match.
