Team India to unveil their squad for England tour on this date

CRIC Informer

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to reveal the Team India squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England on May 24 (Saturday). Ajit Agarkar, the chief selector, is expected to be at the press conference where the new Test captain will also be announced.

This series will kick off India’s involvement in the fourth edition of the World Test Championship (WTC). They reached the finals in the first two editions but didn’t make it to the last one, with Australia and South Africa taking them down. This will also be the first time in over ten years that the team will play without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from Test cricket just recently.

Fans will be watching closely to see who steps into their shoes, with names like Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair being mentioned as possible options. When it comes to captaincy, Shubman Gill seems to be the front runner, with Rishabh Pant also in the mix as a likely vice-captain. There’s even talk of Jasprit Bumrah being a strong candidate, especially after his impressive performance on the last tour to Australia.

Here’s the schedule for the India tour of England:

  • June 13 to June 16: 4-day warm-up match in Beckenham
  • June 20 to June 24: 1st Test at Headingley, Leeds
  • July 2 to July 6: 2nd Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham
  • July 10 to July 14: 3rd Test at Lord’s, London
  • July 23 to July 27: 4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester
  • July 31 to August 4: 5th Test at The Oval, London
