Team India gets a massive jolt ahead of the second T 20 as this star gets injured

Injuries befell India opener Abhishek Sharma on Friday, before the second T20I match against England, twisted his ankle while catching in nets in Chennai. After this, Abhishek was attended to by a physio on the field before he was brought back to the dressing room to rest his ankle. He was seen limping slightly while walking back to the pavilion, and did not bat at nets. The 24-year-old spent over half an hour with the physio in the dressing room.

Abhishek scored a blistering 79 in Kolkata in the first match where India won by an easy seven wickets. If Abhishek is prevented from capping back on Saturday in Chennai, India has the option of bringing in either Washington Sundar or Dhruv Jurel into the eleven.

In that event, Tilak Varma can bat in to open with Sanju Samson. India leads the series by one match with the first played in Kolkata matched seven-wicket win.

While India spinner Varun Chakravarthy equated the standards of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to IPL and said that cricketers should turn out in abundance in the domestic tournament to enhance their T20 matchmanship. Chakravarthy was instrumental in India’s seven-wicket win over England in the first T20I at Kolkata on Wednesday, with three wickets to his credit.

His words were in concordance with the vision of head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar on focusing more on domestic cricket.

There were several star cricketers like India captain Rohit Sharma and flamboyant keeper-batter Rishabh Pant, playing for their respective domestic teams in the penultimate round of the Ranji Trophy.

“Domestic cricket has a lot of quality and intensity-I would almost place it up there with the IPL and other international matches. Therefore, I think everyone should be trying to play the Syed Mushtaq Ali, given that we would be playing on pretty small grounds. It makes it tougher,” Chakravarthy said in the pre-match conferences.

“I find it really hard to play the SMAT, but it surely made me be better, instinctively driving, on my toes, thinking right at the right moments,” he added.
